Andre P. McDaniel, CPC

As a Certified Professional Coder, André has an extensive background in Medical Coding and Clinical Data Abstraction. His expertise encompasses Inpatient and Outpatient coding issues, as well as staff productivity and office efficiency. André has been asked to speak and teach practical coding skills across the United States, with topics targeted to meet the needs of each unique group. As the principal consultant for ProMed, he gives the same attention to individual physician practice needs.

Experience

André’s expertise in CPT coding lies in Cardiology (Interventional Radiology and Peripheral Vascular) as well as General Orthopedics, Spinal, Radiological, and Surgical Pathology Coding. Current Medical Coding Education projects also focus on Pain Management, E/M Coding Compliance, and Endocrinology. André has over 6 years experience in the health care field, focusing on medical coding. He has taught many courses/seminars on Medical Coding, ICD-9 Coding both basic and advanced, and Coding Compliance. The projected introduction of ICD-10-CM in 2011 is a current interest for André, with a focus on education for both providers and billing/administration.

André has recently helped several physician practices utilize proper coding conventions and guidelines to both maximize reimbursement and adhere to current compliance regulations. He enjoys assessing coding and billing issues, diagnosing the problem, and affecting a solution.

Educational & Professional Involvement

André is the immediate past President for the St. Louis Local Chapter of the American Academy of Professional Coders. André is an advisory Board Member for Jefferson Technical College where he earned is Medical Coding Certificate. He was trained in Clinical Data Abstraction while working as a Research Coordinator for Yale University School of Medicine and the US Department of Defense in a joint research study. During that time André attained Human Investigation Committee Certification from the National Institutes of Health.

He is a past member of the Kentucky Medical Group Management Association, and a current member of the St. Louis MGMA. André was a Coding Instructor with ATA Career Education in St. Louis in 2004-2005. He was an Adjunct Instructor at Maryville University in St. Louis, where he taught the Professional Medical Coding Curriculum as an approved instructor for the AAPC with a > 90% passing rate.
