If examinee does not pass each section, he/she will be required to retake the entire exam in order to earn credentials. Each newly certified coder will receive a diploma that identifies his/her credentials.
Certification Preparation
ProMed has invested in a course prepared by CPC Solutions, Inc. It is a definitive course that is aimed at providing the most up-to-date information relating to CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9-CM procedural and help diagnostic medical coding.
The course curriculum is presented in a chapter format, using The Principles of CPT and The Principles of ICD-9-CM published by the American Medical Association (AMA). Chapters include medical terminology, anatomy overviews, with CPT broken down section by section, and ICD-9-CM. The course also includes class exercises and end-of-chapter review questions, to enhance comprehension of the material covered. A midterm and full 5-hour mock CPC examination are also provided. A one-day review session will be given at the end of the course prior to the attendees sitting for the certification examination.
The staff of ProMed Coding Education and Consulting, LLC consists of instructors who are experienced in-the-field coders and each can be considered a medical coding specialist.
